New MX Season

The MX season is finally here, and it has been a long wait over the summer. MX is something that I have always enjoyed, and although I have never ridden MX (just a bit of bush riding here and there!!) I just love watching what the new generation of riders can do with a motorcycle. There just seems to be a huge pool of talented riders out there. Whether it is MX/SX or Enduro racing, todays riders just seem to be pushing the limits more and more, I think it is just because they know they have to push harder to succeed.

These images were shot out at Shrubland Park, just south of Bunbury, and I just used the day to get the feel for shooting MX again. Used some off camera flash (Thanks Tegan!) and also some on camera flash, but it’s always hard to fill the shadows on such a bright sunny day, won’t be long and we’ll all be wishing for the sun to come out. All in all I got some half decent shots, but it’s just the start of what is going to be a pretty busy winter.

Although there has been a huge increase in the use of  4 stroke bikes, there is still nothing like the smell of 2 stroke in the air, and the fact that they are a lot easier to maintain and cheaper to run, there seems to have been a little bit of a resurgence in 2 stroke bikes at the track.
